Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Intern (Finance) to support EH&S programs on construction projects in the Washington, DC metro area, including College Park, MD and Herndon, VA. The internship runs 10–12 weeks, with a 40-hour week, and may involve relocation to a remote site.

Open to undergraduates and graduates pursuing an EH&S or related degree. Housing may be provided in certain situations; transportation is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS in environmental health and safety management or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Interest in safety programs, inspections, and mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safety onboarding and safety meeting processes.
• Assist in performing regular job site inspections and document mitigation actions.
• Assist in evaluating planning/permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space, Fall Protection.
• Assist in incident investigations including interviews and documentation.
