Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company seeks an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for construction projects in the Charlotte area. The engineer will apply broad EH&S expertise, conduct on-site inspections, and support incident investigations to mitigate hazards across multiple project sites.

The role requires a degree in environmental health and safety, and certification such as BCSP GSP/ASP, with a commitment to safety culture and regulatory compliance across work sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in an Environmental Health and Safety Related field.
• Recognized Safety Professional Certification (BCSP GSP/ASP).
• Experience performing regular job site inspections and documenting mitigations.
• Experience supporting incident investigations with interviews and proper documentation.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and fire protection, hazardous materials management.

Responsibilities

• Perform regular job site inspections to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Support incident investigations with interviews, data collection and documentation.
• Evaluate permits such as Hot Work, Confined Space and Fall Protection for proper mitigation.
• Apply Industrial Hygiene principles in hearing conservation, silica, lead, asbestos, etc.
• Understand fire protection and hazardous materials storage/management.
