Job summary

Our client, a well-established New York City law firm with a Construction & Design practice, seeks a Construction & Design Group Associate with transactional construction law experience to join its Midtown Manhattan office.

This role focuses on sophisticated construction and development matters, including RPAPL § 881 proceedings, and involves drafting and negotiating access and license agreements with neighboring properties for owners and developers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of transactional construction law experience.
• New York Bar admission required.
• Based in NYC area or willing to relocate.
• Meaningful RPAPL § 881 experience.
• Experience drafting and negotiating access and license agreements involving neighboring properties.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced transactional environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to work directly with sophisticated clients and opposing counsel.

Responsibilities

• Handle RPAPL § 881 proceedings involving access to adjoining properties for construction.
• Draft and negotiate access and license agreements with neighboring owners.
• Draft and negotiate construction contracts for owners and developers.
• Draft and negotiate design agreements with architects and engineers.
• Advise clients on construction-related contractual issues and access rights.
• Work directly with owners, developers, institutional clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and opposing counsel.
• Manage a high-volume, fast-paced transactional workload.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys in a seven-attorney Construction & Design group.
