Job summary

Orion Placement is seeking an attorney to join a respected California civil litigation firm handling construction defect and general liability defense matters in-office across Newport Beach, Sacramento, and Pleasant Hill. You will take ownership of discovery, depositions, motions, court appearances, and strategy while collaborating with experienced litigators.

Candidates must have a California Bar license and 4+ years of civil litigation experience; defense-side background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license.
• 4+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Construction defect and/or general liability experience.
• Defense-side litigation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage construction defect and general liability defense cases from inception through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategy in partnership with clients and senior attorneys.
• Draft, propound, and respond to all phases of written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Prepare and argue law and motion matters, including demurrers and summary judgment motions.
• Appear in court for hearings, case management conferences, settlement conferences, and trial-related proceedings.
• Communicate with clients regarding strategy, developments, and risk.
• Supervise paralegals and support staff; collaborate across offices.
