Job summary

Oregon Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering Specialist 3 – Construction Coordinator in Portland. You will support project delivery by administering contracts, monitoring field work and resolving construction issues to keep projects moving.

The role requires inspecting plans, coordinating with inspectors, and ensuring compliance with specifications while working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Four years of engineering field experience in construction inspection, surveying and/or permitting or an associate degree with two years of engineering technician experience or a bachelor’s degree with one year of engineering technician experience or equivalent combination.
• Related experience may include construction management, forestry, geography, geology, geomatics, mathematics, physics, urban planning.
• Note: Driving is an essential function; valid U.S. driver's license required and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain positive relations with contractors and their representatives.
• Ensure compliance with plans and specifications by monitoring inspectors and survey crews.
• Review contractor schedules to verify reasonableness and adherence to specs.
• Prepare, negotiate and review proposed contract actions.
• Assist in project budgeting and crew manpower planning.
