Rapid Removal is seeking a hands-on Construction Controller who can work directly in QuickBooks Online, handle daily accounting details and personally own the monthly close. You must be comfortable entering and correcting transactions, reconciling accounts and producing financial statements—not just supervising someone else’s work.
Take ownership of the accounting process for Rapid Removal and its related businesses. This is more than an AP/payroll position: it combines full-cycle accounting, team leadership and practical process improvement. Use our existing AI-assisted workflows to improve execution, while keeping human accountability for accuracy and approvals.
What you will own
- Work in QBO daily: enter and review transactions; maintain the chart of accounts, vendor/customer records and job mappings; investigate bank-feed and integration exceptions; correct errors with an audit trail.
- Perform AP coding, approval follow-up, duplicate checks, vendor-statement reconciliations and credit recovery. Prepare a reliable payment queue and resolve invoice issues directly.
- Own payroll accounting and human exception review alongside our agent-assisted intake process. Reconcile approved hours, expenses, payroll registers, labor allocation and payroll liabilities; coordinate with the payroll provider.
- Personally execute monthly close: reconcile bank, credit card, loan, AP, AR, payroll and intercompany balances; prepare supported accruals, prepaids, cutoff and other adjusting entries; maintain fixed-asset schedules with CPA support.
- Deliver a reviewed monthly reporting package, targeting the tenth business day: P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow reporting, aging, job profitability and reconciled work in progress. Explain variances and maintain separate entity results and consolidation adjustments.
- Maintain a weekly 13-week cash forecast. Lead accounting staff and outside support, document procedures and train backups. Coordinate with the existing billing function; retain separate payment-release and vendor-bank-change approvals.
What you bring
- Recent hands-on QuickBooks Online experience and demonstrated personal ownership of full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, adjusting entries and monthly financial statements.
- Construction or subcontractor accounting experience, including job costing, work in progress, progress billing and retainage; practical AP and payroll reconciliation skills.
- Experience managing people and closing issues with vendors, field managers and outside providers. Strong Excel skills; MakersHub, BILL or comparable AP workflow experience is valuable.
- Demonstrated practical AI use with source verification and confidentiality controls. Accounting managers, assistant controllers and senior accountants ready to lead are encouraged to apply if they meet the hands-on requirements.
What success looks like
In your first 90 days, establish a reconciled baseline, a prioritized cleanup plan, dependable AP/payroll controls and a written close calendar. Personally produce the management package and reduce recurring owner corrections. This is a working accounting-leadership role, not bookkeeping alone or oversight alone.
