About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Program Director to lead commissioning activities for a mechanical contractor supporting large, complex commercial construction projects. This is a remote position with approximately 30% travel to project sites.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical construction and commissioning experience and be comfortable providing leadership across multiple projects, coordinating with project teams, clients, engineers, and subcontractors, and driving commissioning activities from planning through final completion.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee commissioning programs across large-scale mechanical construction projects.
• Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, and documentation.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with Project Managers, Superintendents, engineers, owners, and subcontractors.
• Establish commissioning processes and ensure projects are prepared for testing and turnover.
• Review project requirements, specifications, drawings, and commissioning documentation.
• Identify and resolve commissioning issues and coordinate corrective actions with project teams.
• Oversee functional performance testing and system verification.
• Track commissioning progress, deficiencies, and closeout activities.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to project teams throughout the commissioning process.
• Travel to project sites approximately 30% of the time.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in mechanical construction, commissioning, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of commercial mechanical/HVAC systems and construction processes.
• Experience with large, complex commercial projects.
• Previous experience leading or managing commissioning activities or programs.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Strong project coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with owners, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 30%.
