Job summary

Mead & Hunt is seeking a limited-term civil engineering intern for airport project work in the De Pere/Greater Green Bay area, starting May/June 2027 and ending Aug/Sept 2027. You will assist engineers, technicians, and surveyors with field activities, measurements, and report preparation.

The ideal candidate has completed at least two semesters of civil engineering coursework, driver’s license, and willingness to travel 75–100% to project sites.

Qualifications

• Two semesters of civil engineering coursework completed by hire date.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D or similar is preferred.
• Strong communication and documentation skills for field work.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers, technicians, and surveyors on civil airport projects.
• Perform measurements, quantity calculations and prepare pay estimates.
• Support project report preparation and field inspections.
• Conduct survey tasks and assist with technical research as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and assist with writing tasks.

As a result of our expansive growth, we have a position available for a limited-term, full-time civil engineering intern to work in the construction field on airport projects based in De Pere, WI (greater Green Bay area) starting in May/June 2027 and ending in August/September 2027.

This intern will be responsible for assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil engineering projects in the following areas:

• Assisting engineers, technicians, and surveyors with civil airport projects including taxiways, runways, aprons, etc.
• Performing measurements and quantity calculations and preparing pay estimates
• Assisting with project report preparation
• Performing field inspection, documentation, and survey work
• Some technical research and writing
• Other tasks as assigned.

A valid driver’s license, the ability to pass background checks to gain access to airport sites, and frequent travel to construction project sites 75%-100% of the time will be required.

Successful candidates must have completed at least two semesters of college-level coursework in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university by date of hire.

The ideal candidate will have experience with any/all the following:

• Construction field experience including observation and documentation
• Previous internships involving construction, DOT projects, surveying and/or civil site inspections
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Civil3D software
• Understanding of basic grading and testing processes
• Knowledge of airport planning and/or design
• Survey tasks
• Civil/survey engineering coursework
