Overview

Job Title: Construction Counsel / Partner – Charlotte (Wilmington-Focused)

Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with senior-level experience (TBD)

The Firm: A well-established firm is expanding its Charlotte office with the addition of a senior construction litigator. With active matters and clients in Wilmington, the firm offers a strong platform to build out this practice area—backed by leadership support and long-term strategic investment.

Role Overview

This Counsel or Partner-level position is ideal for a litigator with deep experience in construction and civil disputes. You’ll take the lead on complex matters, help shape the future direction of the practice, and leverage existing regional work while growing the client base.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the firm’s construction litigation presence in Charlotte
  • Manage and service active matters for clients in the Wilmington region
  • Play a key role in business development to expand the construction law client base
  • Handle complex construction disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and risk mitigation
  • Provide mentorship and oversight to junior attorneys and legal staff as needed
  • Collaborate with other practice groups to offer comprehensive legal solutions
Requirements
  • Admission to the North Carolina Bar (or eligibility to waive in)
  • Extensive experience in construction law and civil litigation at a senior level
  • Demonstrated leadership, client development, and practice-management skills
  • Exceptional legal writing, advocacy, case management, and communication abilities
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build and grow a department

A portable book of business is a plus
