Job description

Construction Litigation Associate Attorney

Ready to advance your legal career? Poyner Spruill LLP is seeking a litigation associate with 2+ years of construction law experience to join our team in our Raleigh office.

We are looking for a motivated and engaged attorney to become part of our hands‑on construction practice. Our work is both sophisticated and diverse, offering meaningful responsibility and exposure to a wide range of matters from the outset.

The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, collaborative, and eager to take an active role in all aspects of construction litigation and counseling construction project stakeholders. From day one, you will contribute in a substantive way—with opportunities for litigation and arbitration involvement and direct client interaction—while working alongside a team dedicated to mentoring and supporting your professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills

We value candidates who demonstrate initiative, work well in a team‑oriented environment, and are excited to contribute to a dynamic and growing litigation practice.

Our Team

Our construction practice represents a broad range of clients, including owners (governmental and private), developers, prime contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties, architects, engineers, and lenders. We advise on the negotiation and drafting of contracts for traditional design‑bid‑build, construction management at‑risk, and design‑build projects and handle arbitration, mediation, and litigation of complex construction disputes. Our attorneys have successfully prosecuted and defended multi‑million‑dollar delay, payment, defect, termination, and change order claims; represented clients before licensing boards; and defended against OSHA‑related matters.

Our Firm

Poyner Spruill LLP is a full‑service law firm providing comprehensive business and litigation services to clients ranging from small businesses to publicly traded companies. As one of North Carolina’s largest firms, we are recognized for excellence in client service across the Southeast, with offices in Charlotte, Raleigh, Rocky Mount, and Southern Pines.

To apply, please submit your resume, law school transcripts, and any additional materials you would like us to consider to recruiting@poynerspruill.com.
