We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Contractor Assistant Project Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion.

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least two years of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing all aspects of ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors
  • The ability to manage more than 2 projects simultaneously and an ambitious approach to balancing workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in project reporting software, MS Office, and blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and results-oriented approach
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various job sites
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of commercial construction experience
  • Proficient with technology
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with project owners, tradesmen, and other stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of the construction process, including materials, equipment, and techniques
  • Travel up to 25% is required
Responsibilities
  • Managing project budgets, writing contracts, approving invoices, and updating schedules
  • Coordinating among subcontractors and resolving issues or conflicts
  • Managing projects independently or assisting the Project Manager with major issues
  • Skills in blueprint reading and scheduling software are beneficial
  • Organizing and distributing project documents
  • Assisting in developing and updating project schedules
  • Expediting deliveries to meet schedules
  • Maintaining cost control data
  • Fostering long-term relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and employees
  • Supporting the Project Manager in various duties, including mobilization, permits, and close-out procedures
  • Assisting with LEED requirements and document control
  • Reviewing shop drawings and submittals for compliance
  • Preparing cost reports and processing payments
  • Participating in project meetings and preparing minutes
  • Supporting punch list and warranty work processes
Physical Demands
  • Primarily office work involving computer and phone use
  • 70% sitting, 15% walking, 15% standing
  • Repetitive hand motions, handling, reaching, bending, or lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Climbing stairs is required; some offices have elevators, but stairs are necessary for emergencies
