We are seeking a dynamic and experienced General Contractor Assistant Project Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from inception to completion.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least two years of experience in the commercial construction industry, overseeing ground-up projects in healthcare, financial, and light industrial sectors
  • The ability to manage more than 2 projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage multiple teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in project reporting software, MS Office, and blueprint reading
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills with a proactive, results-oriented approach
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of commercial construction experience
  • Proficiency with technology
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/activities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with project owners, tradesmen, and team members
  • Basic understanding of construction processes, materials, equipment, and techniques
  • Travel availability up to 25%

Responsibilities

  • Manage project budgets, contracts, invoices, and schedules
  • Coordinate subcontractors and resolve issues or conflicts
  • Potentially manage projects independently, with guidance from the Project Manager
  • Utilize blueprint reading and scheduling software skills
  • Organize, process, and distribute project documents
  • Develop and update project schedules
  • Expedite deliveries of materials and equipment
  • Assist in maintaining cost control data
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and employees
  • Support the Project Manager in various duties including mobilization, permits, and close-out procedures
  • Assist in developing cost estimates and schedules
  • Participate in project meetings and document minutes
  • Support punch list and warranty activities

Physical Demands

  • Primarily office-based work involving computers, phones, and office equipment
  • Requires sitting (70%), walking (15%), standing (15%)
  • Repetitive hand movements, handling, feeling, reaching, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds
  • Climbing stairs is required; elevators are available in some offices
