Job summary

Gorman & Company, LLC is seeking a Construction Assistant to support the Maritime Lofts project in Manitowoc, WI. You will work with the Field Superintendent and project team to maintain an organized, safe, and efficiently progressing jobsite for a 59-unit multifamily community.

The role emphasizes hands-on tasks, material handling, measurements, and daily site operations, with opportunities to learn from experienced leadership and grow practical construction skills on a major project expected

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous construction experience is preferred but not required.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic construction math.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Field Superintendent with daily construction activities, general labor, material handling, and other jobsite tasks to support efficient field operations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly jobsite by managing housekeeping and storage areas and helping establish and maintain temporary facilities, signage, barricades, and site security measures.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, organizing, securing, and tracking material and equipment deliveries, keeping inventory records accurate and supplies accessible.
• Support field measurements, layout verifications, quantity tracking, and other basic construction activities as directed by the Field Superintendent.
• Observe work in progress to identify potential quality concerns, site issues, or schedule conflicts, and communicate findings to the appropriate team members.
• Support jobsite safety by assisting with daily inspections, monitoring proper use of personal protective equipment, following company and OSHA requirements, and promptly reporting unsafe conditions.
• Document project progress through photographs and field observations, help prepare and complete punch lists, protect completed work from damage, and keep tools and equipment organized.
