Job summary

Gorman & Company is seeking an Assistant Construction Superintendent to support field operations at Maritime Lofts, a 59-unit multifamily project in Manitowoc, WI. The role involves hands-on jobsite work, coordinating subcontractors, and helping maintain safety, quality, and project milestones from start to finish.

You will work closely with the Field Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure on-time progress, accurate documentation, and a well-organized site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
• 1+ year of experience in construction supervision, field operations, or similar role.
• Strong reading of drawings and specs; basic understanding of sequencing and methods.

Responsibilities

• Support the Field Superintendent with daily jobsite operations, coordinating subcontractors, material deliveries, inspections, and construction activities to maintain productivity and keep work moving forward.
• Monitor construction progress and subcontractor performance to meet milestones and established schedules.
• Promote a safe jobsite by enforcing OSHA requirements, conducting toolbox talks and safety meetings, and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Assist with reviewing material specs and purchase orders, coordinating delivery schedules with the Project Manager and suppliers.
• Monitor quality to ensure work follows plans and standards; communicate RFIs and field issues to the Field Superintendent.
• Maintain clear communication with subcontractors, suppliers, and project team; help resolve day-to-day field challenges.

Join our team as an Assistant Construction Superintendent at Maritime Lofts! Gorman & Company is seeking an Assistant Construction Superintendent to support field operations at Maritime Lofts, a 59-unit multifamily community in Manitowoc, WI, with construction beginning now and completion anticipated in 2028. This role is a great opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys hands-on jobsite work, coordinating subcontractors, supporting safety and quality standards, and keeping daily construction activities organized and on track. You’ll partner with the Field Superintendent and Project Manager to help deliver a high-quality community from construction through completion.

What You’ll Do

• Support the Field Superintendent with daily jobsite operations, coordinating subcontractors, material deliveries, inspections, and construction activities to maintain productivity and keep work moving forward.
• Monitor construction progress, subcontractor performance, and work sequencing to help ensure project milestones are met and work is completed according to established schedules.
• Promote a safe jobsite by enforcing OSHA and company safety requirements, conducting Toolbox Talks and safety meetings, supporting site orientations, and promptly reporting unsafe conditions.
• Assist with reviewing material specifications and purchase orders, anticipating project needs, and coordinating delivery schedules with the Project Manager and suppliers.
• Monitor construction quality to ensure work follows approved plans, specifications, and company standards, communicating field issues and requests for information (RFIs) to the Field Superintendent.
• Maintain clear communication with subcontractors, suppliers, project team members, and other stakeholders while helping resolve day-to-day jobsite challenges.
• Support accurate project documentation, maintain an organized work environment, and assist with other field operations and project needs as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

• At least one year of experience in construction supervision, field operations, or a similar construction role.
• A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• The ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, with a basic understanding of construction methods and sequencing.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management, and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with subcontractors, project managers, and field leadership.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, and a willingness to learn company construction processes and systems.
• A valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements, along with the ability to travel overnight or for extended periods as needed.
