Job summary

Gorman & Company seeks a Construction Assistant to support the Maritime Lofts project, a 59-unit multifamily community in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Assist the Field Superintendent with daily site activities, material handling, and safety compliance throughout construction slated to continue into 2028.

The role emphasizes hands-on labor, teamwork, and the ability to perform basic measurements and math. A valid driver’s license and willingness to learn are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior construction experience preferred.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math.
• Knowledge of jobsite safety practices.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Physical ability for manual labor in varying weather.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Field Superintendent with daily construction activities and general labor.
• Maintain an organized jobsite by managing housekeeping and temporary facilities.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, organizing, securing, and tracking material deliveries.
• Support field measurements, layout verifications, and quantity tracking.
• Observe work to identify quality concerns, safety issues, or schedule conflicts.
• Support jobsite safety with daily inspections and PPE compliance.
• Document project progress with photos and field observations; help finalize punch lists.
