Job summary

Procon seeks an experienced Construction Manager/Construction Administrator (CM-CA) to support the VA Medical Center project in Tuscaloosa, AL. On-site role handling construction administration, QA, contractor oversight, and schedule monitoring within an active facility.

Strong knowledge of commercial construction, RFIs/submittals/COs, and site documentation is required. Federal VA experience is highly desirable; healthcare projects in occupied facilities preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in construction administration, quality assurance, contractor oversight, or construction management.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction practices, drawings, specifications, and documents.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field inspections.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Federal construction experience with VA is highly desirable.
  • Healthcare construction experience in occupied facilities is highly preferred.

  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, project records, and other construction documentation.
  • Monitor contractor performance for compliance with quality, safety, schedule, and project requirements.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and related contract documents.
  • Participate in progress meetings and coordinate with contractors, design professionals, and project stakeholders.
  • Identify, document, and assist in resolving field issues affecting cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate daily reports, project files, and construction records.

Procon seeks an experienced Construction Manager/Construction Administrator (CM-CA) to support the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL. Serving as the VA’s Owner’s Representative, the CM-CA will provide construction administration, quality assurance, contractor oversight, schedule monitoring, safety coordination, project documentation, and stakeholder coordination throughout construction. The project includes upgrades to electrical and power infrastructure, HVAC, telecommunications, fiber‑optic networks, physical security, IT infrastructure, utilities, and supporting facility systems. This is an on‑site, primarily day‑shift position, with occasional evening work required to support scheduled shutdowns and other critical construction activities.

This position does not offer employment visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular onsite presence in an active construction environment. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods while performing site observations and inspections.
  • Navigating active construction areas, including stairs, uneven surfaces, temporary walkways, and varying elevations.
  • Occasionally bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and climbing as necessary to observe construction activities.
  • Accessing mechanical, electrical, utility, process, and other construction areas as required.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and complying with all applicable site safety requirements.
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to typical construction‑site conditions, including noise, dust, weather, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
