Job summary

Joseph Michaels International seeks an Accounting Manager- Commercial Construction / Project-Based Business to lead the accounting operations in a fast-paced, owner-led setting. The role combines hands-on day-to-day accounting with strategic oversight of a small team and key project cost controls.

Responsibilities include month-end close, GL, AP/AR, billing, and financial reporting, plus cash flow forecasting and project accounting improvements.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience required.
• Experience supervising accounting staff.
• Project/job-cost accounting in construction preferred.
• Tech-savvy with new software adoption.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Hands-on, organized, with owner interaction.
• Ability to lead and delegate while handling details.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and a 3-person team.
• Manage month-end close, GL, and reconciliations.
• Oversee AP, AR, collections, and customer billing.
• Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
• Monitor cash flow and prepare short-term forecasts.
• Strengthen job-costing and project-accounting processes.
• Develop and maintain accounting controls.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with ownership.
• Collaborate with project managers and coordinators.
• Coordinate with CPA and financial partners.
