Job summary

Southeast General Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Accounting Controller to oversee our accounting operations and support financial management of our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have strong construction accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of job costing, project financials, and accounting controls.

The role focuses on overseeing daily accounting operations, managing project budgets and cost-to-complete

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience with construction industry exposure.
• Strong knowledge of job costing and project accounting.
• Experience with construction software such as QuickBooks, Viewpoint, Sage, CRE, Procore.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting.
• CPA or construction accounting certification is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
• Manage job costing, project budgets, and cost-to-complete reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, cash-flow reports, and management reports.
• Monitor project profitability, billing, retainage, and contract compliance.
• Work closely with estimators and senior management.
• Establish and maintain strong internal accounting controls.
• Coordinate year-end financial statements, audits and tax preparation.

The ideal candidate will have strong construction accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of job costing, project financials, and accounting controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, account receivable, payroll, and general ledger.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Financial Reporting.

Strong Analytical, communication and leadership skills.

CPA or Construction accounting certification is a plus.
