Job Summary

General Contractor is seeking an experienced, energetic, detail-oriented Construction Controller-CPA to join our team! You will oversee all major financial decisions within the company, working closely with multiple department heads and upper management to determine budgets and department needs, and make major purchases. You will also set financial goals for various departments, prepare sales forecasts, implement new financial plans and policies, and work with financial analysts to ensure the company is in excellent financial health. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience working on large-scale company finances and accounts, has excellent analytical skills, and has the ability to step back from a single department and see the larger company-wide picture.

Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with every department to create financial goals, budgets, and plans that align with the overall company budgets and finances.
  2. Create reports based on the financial health of the company, and present these reports to stakeholders and other management.
  3. Forecast sales and make financial projections.
  4. Oversee financial compliance of the company as a whole.
  5. Oversee and manage all accounting functions related to our residential and commercial construction projects.
  6. Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and job costing.
  7. Ensure timely and accurate billing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
  8. Monitor project costs and budgets to ensure financial objectives are met.
  9. Coordinate with project managers to review project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
  10. Maintain compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry-specific requirements.
  11. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
  12. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  13. Assist in the preparation of financial audits and coordinate with external auditors.
  14. Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  15. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Qualifications

  1. Previous, demonstrated experience handling company-wide finances.
  2. Excellent communication skills.
  3. Strong computer skills, including working with Microsoft Office suite.
  4. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, CPA preferred.
  5. 8-10 years construction accounting experience is a MUST.
  6. Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, and financial reporting.
  7. Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  8. Ability to work with owners, project managers, and other team members.
  9. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
