Job summary

Jackson County Florida 4-H is seeking an Accountant II to support construction accounting for capital projects, ensuring compliance with contracts and funding requirements. You will reconcile accounts, review expenditures, and maintain detailed records in the ERP system.

The role involves closeouts, financial reporting, and providing operational backup for accounting functions, all within a collaborative university environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with accounting software.
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting software.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply applicable University, State, and Federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Construction Accounting Processing: review and monitor project expenditures for compliance with contracts and funding requirements; reconcile project accounts and prepare correcting entries.
  • Construction Project Close Outs: coordinate financial closeout with multiple departments; verify transactions and prepare documentation for unexpended funds.
  • Operational Backup Support: provide backup for key accounting functions; process project funding requests and related transactions.
  • Reporting: assist in preparing recurring and ad hoc financial reports; support audits and documentation for internal/external reviews.
  • Special Projects: participate in special projects as assigned.
