Job summary

Abrazo Arrowhead Campus is seeking a dedicated constant observer to provide direct patient observation under RN supervision in a hospital setting. The role focuses on patient safety, privacy, and compassionate care, ensuring continuous monitoring and reporting to the nursing staff.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and current American Heart Association BLS certification, with at least one year of related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to prioritize work.
• Must have good customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Patient Observation: keeps patient within view at all times; never leaves patient unattended; uses call system for assistance; accompanies patient during transport as needed.
• Patient Safety: keeps doors open; removes sharp items; screens items brought by visitors; follows activity level guidance.
• Patient Privacy: maintains confidentiality and respects patient dignity.
• Communication: listens to patient, expresses empathy, reports to nurse when appropriate.
• Conduct: provides constant observation only; avoids personal distractions; stays with patient until relief arrives.
• Other related tasks as assigned.
