Job summary

Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. is seeking a consolidation accountant to perform complex consolidation tasks under moderate supervision, focusing on intercompany reconciliations and monthly/annual budget consolidation.

You will analyze subsidiary financial data, execute intercompany eliminations, improve processes, and prepare timely consolidation reports. Travel is less than 10% and a CPA is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 3-5 years of consolidation or financial reporting experience.
  • CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with consolidation software (OneStream, Hyperion, SAP BPC).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze assigned subsidiaries’ financial data, identify unusual trends, and investigate variances with root cause analysis.
  • Execute, resolve & record intercompany eliminations & profit eliminations with moderate supervision.
  • Identify inefficiencies in consolidation processes and recommend improvements.
  • Update/prepare consolidation reports timely and accurately.
  • Create ad hoc reports for management when requested.
  • Collaborate with subsidiaries, controllers, and finance teams to resolve consolidation issues.
  • Mentor entry-level consolidation accountants.
  • Perform quarterly and year-end consolidation reporting and analysis.

Summary

Responsible for performing complex consolidation accounting tasks under moderate supervision, focusing on complex Intercompany reconciliations, analyzing trend, investigating variances, and ensuring accuracy of consolidated financial statements. Assist in the monthly and annual budget consolidation process.

What You'll Do
  • Financial Analysis: Analyze assigned subsidiaries’ financial data, identify unusual trends, and investigate material variances with root cause analysis and report to supervisor for accurate consolidated financials.
  • Intercompany Reconciliations: Execute, resolve & record intercompany eliminations & profit eliminations with moderate supervision accurately, and maintain detailed transaction logs for audit trail purposes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in consolidation processes and recommend practical improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Consolidation Reporting: Update/prepare consolidation reports timely and accurately.
  • Create ad hoc reports for management when requested.
  • Collaboration: Partner with subsidiaries, controllers and finance teams to resolve consolidation issues and improve data quality.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and review work of entry-level consolidation accountants.
  • Qtly, Year-end Reporting & Analysis: Perform moderately complicated consolidated reporting including Subsidiaries’ audited financial statement review, gather footnote information and additional questionnaire to parent company with accuracy and timeliness.

What You Need
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Work experience: 3-5 years of consolidation or financial reporting experience
  • Licenses and Certifications: CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with consolidation software (e.g., OneStream, Hyperion, SAP BPC)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work well under pressure, handle multiple projects and manage resources
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision
  • Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
  • Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgement
