Job summary

Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. seeks an experienced EHS professional to lead project management, safety governance, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

You will develop and enforce safety programs, manage budgets, and drive training initiatives to elevate overall performance. The role requires collaboration with leadership to embed safety, quality, and productivity best practices, plus conducting audits and investigations to uphold compliance across regulatory jurisdictions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
  • High-level professional safety certifications strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Directs project lifecycle workflows including research, timeline generation, milestone tracking, and accountability delegation while managing budgets.
  • Implements safety and environmental management systems in line with corporate and regulatory standards.
  • Partner with leadership to embed safety, quality, and productivity benchmarks into standard work documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality, productivity, HR, and environmental programs with documented results.
  • Establishes facility training academies and onboarding matrices to validate training effectiveness.
  • Conducts compliance audits and leads incident investigations to enhance workplace safety standards.

What You’ll Do
  • Project Management & Cost Control: Directs comprehensive project lifecycle workflows—including research, timeline generation, milestone tracking, and accountabilities delegation—while managing project budgets and escalating issues that impact operational profitability.
  • Safety & Environmental Governance: Implements internal Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and Environmental Management Systems that comply with corporate guidelines, regulatory expectations, and international compliance standards.
  • Operational Integration & Standardization: Partners with leadership to embed critical safety, quality, and productivity benchmarks directly into Standardized Work documentation and Floor Management Development Systems across manufacturing departments.
  • Continuous Improvement & Kaizen: Supports established operations by driving improvement initiatives across safety, quality, productivity, human resources, and environmental programs, thoroughly documenting all results as directed by Strategic Business Unit leadership.
  • Training & Workforce Development: Establishes facility training academies, mobile equipment training programs, and comprehensive onboarding matrices to validate training versatility and process effectiveness across teams.
  • Compliance Auditing & Investigation: Conducts rigorous compliance audits of established operations against strategic business unit standards and leads incident investigations to continuously enhance regional workplace safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • High-level professional industry safety certifications are strongly desired.
  • 5 to 8 years of environmental health and safety experience.
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems is required.
  • Prior experience in start-up operations with facility building layout and root-source unit cost principles is preferred.
  • Experience delivering working improvements to safety standards, conducting incident investigations, and heading safety committee leadership across Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Transportation, and other required regulatory jurisdictions.
  • Certified Safety Professional, Associate Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, or similar certification strongly desired, or eligibility to sit for the exam.

Travel Required: 25% or more
