Job summary

Ally Financial is seeking an Accountant II to join the Insurance Team. You will assist in preparing consolidated financial statements (10-Q/10-K) under NAIC principles, coordinating materials from multiple groups and driving review cycles with business owners.

You will support analytical accounting functions, resolve issues via appropriate channels, improve processes, support audits, and contribute to ad hoc projects.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of work experience in Accounting or related field with general technical accounting and/or functional skills.
• Strong preference to public accounting experience.
• Workday experience preferred.
• Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
• Sound oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end financial statements (10-Q/10-K) under NAIC accounting principles.
• Coordinate with groups across the enterprise to gather materials.
• Participate in gathering review comments and update financial statements.
• Provide analytical accounting support to internal business partners.
• Resolve accounting problems through appropriate channels and drive audit compliance.
• Improve processes around assigned accounting activities and contribute to ad hoc analytical projects.
