Job summary

The University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music at the Stockton Campus invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track visiting lecturer who will provide instruction, advise students, and participate in program development in a student-centered learning environment.

The role encompasses teaching 3–20 hours per week, designing and conducting courses, and contributing to policy and program advancement while collaborating with faculty and staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications: master’s degree (or equivalent) with evidence of teaching success and scholarly/ artistic achievements.
  • In lieu of a master’s, equivalent educational or professional experience with a statement of equivalence.

Conservatory Visiting Lecturer – Part‑Time, Non‑Tenure Track position in the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific, Stockton Campus.

Position Description

The Conservatory of Music invites applications for a part‑time, non‑tenure track visiting lecturer who will provide instruction, collaborate with faculty, advise students, and participate in program development and service in a student‑centered learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction for 3–20 hours per week (depending on course/contract).
  • Design, develop, and conduct educational programs and courses in accordance with university policies.
  • Actively participate in planning, review, and improvement of educational programs and courses, and help evaluate effectiveness.
  • Recommend educational policies and degree requirements that advance the university mission.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A master’s degree (or equivalent) in the field of specialization and evidence of teaching success and scholarly or artistic achievements.
  • In lieu of a master’s, equivalent educational or professional experience with a statement of equivalence.
  • As a lecturer, appointment is non‑tenure and does not count toward tenure or promotion requirements.
  • Each appointment is for a specific period of time and reviewed for renewal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College‑level teaching experience.
  • Willingness and ability to teach related areas such as entrepreneurship, professional development, music theory, or musicology.
  • Earned doctorate or terminal degree in the specialization.
  • Published research in the field of specialization.
  • Experience and sensitivity working with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated advancement of social justice, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to integrate culturally responsive practices.
Physical Requirements

Requires extended periods of sitting and standing, bending and stooping, occasional walking; work primarily in a standard classroom environment for 3–20 hours per week.

Hiring Range

The salary is based on scope of responsibilities, candidate qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.
