Job summary

Texas Department of Family Protective Services seeks Conservatorship Specialists to support children removed from home, coordinating care and working with families, kinship providers, and legal teams to secure permanency.

You will monitor safety, prepare court reports, attend hearings, and collaborate with placement teams in this trauma-informed role; strong community partnerships are valued in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in social work or a related field.
• Experience in social/human services preferred.
• Ability to work with families, kinship networks, and diverse communities.

Responsibilities

• Receives cases after children are removed and placed in CPS conservatorship.
• Determines needs and coordinates referrals for testing, records, or evaluations to support permanency.
• Plans for a child's permanency with families, kinship providers, and placements.
• Documents progress, attends court hearings, and testifies as needed.
• Promotes cultural diversity and collaborates with law enforcement, legal professionals, and medical staff.
• Maintains monthly visits to assess safety and progress toward reunification.
