Job summary

Denver Zoo Conservation Alliance’s Conservation Learning Facilitator role delivers engaging educational programs at the Zoo and in the community, serving diverse audiences from preschool to high school students and families. The position requires a flexible weekend schedule and is a variable part-time role with up to 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities include facilitating conservation- and science-based learning, developing school-age or early childhood programming, and supporting operations,

Qualifications

• Completion or in pursuit of a high school degree or equivalent required, or any equivalent combination.
• Experience and comfort working with children aged various ages in nonprofit, school, or camp settings is preferred.
• Affinity for animals and nature; comfortable in nature.
• 6 months of relevant experience preferred, including internships and other relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate engaging conservation, science, and nature-based learning experiences for diverse audiences using established curricula and program plans.
• Create safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments that foster learning, exploration, and connections with nature.
• Facilitate children’s day camp programs during select breaks; option to apply for full-time seasonal summer camp positions.
• Develop a specialization in school-age programming or early childhood and nature-play programming.
• Support program operations: prepare, set up, break down, maintain, inventory, and clean materials.
• Communicate clearly and adapt language for participants’ ages; collaborate with DZCA team.
