Job summary

Maine Coast Heritage Trust seeks a Conservation Associate to advance land protection in Maine through GIS mapping, data management, and hands-on field work in the Lincolnville to Lubec region, reporting to the Associate Director of Land Protection.

The role includes planning support, recordkeeping, and coordination with Conservation Project Managers, with hybrid work from Mount Desert Island or Whiting offices and regional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2-3 years of relevant experience.
• In lieu of education, 4-5 years of GIS mapping experience and supporting land conservation activities.
• Proficiency with ESRI’s ArcGIS suite and related tools (ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Survey123, ArcGIS Online).
• Ability to produce high-quality maps for planning, legal documents, presentations and public communications.
• Strong written and oral communication, data management, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• GIS Mapping & Geospatial Data Management in coordination with Senior GIS Associate.
• Produces and maintains map resources for Land Protection and other departments.
• Collects and maintains geospatial data and supports GIS users.
• Conservation Records Management and SharePoint/database maintenance.
• Supports landowner outreach, deed research, and conservation easement planning.
• Produces baseline data documentation for easements with field work and mapping.
