Job summary

Historic New England is seeking a Preservation Manager for the Mid-Coast Maine properties. The role oversees preservation, maintenance, and capital improvements, and is a hands-on manager who also performs basic maintenance tasks to keep properties operating smoothly.

You will coordinate the property care team and collaborate with collections staff, site managers, and the development office to secure funding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum 4 years of experience, or equivalent combination of skilled credentials.
• Strong Property Management or Preservation background.
• Understanding of a broad range of maintenance activities.
• Understanding of a broad range of project management activities including project development, procurement, and oversight.
• Excellent project management, budgeting, and communication skills.
• Demonstrated understanding of standard preservation concepts.

Responsibilities

• Regularly surveys properties to understand needs and issues, documents conditions, and prioritizes a annual work plan and budget.
• Develops and implements projects; identifies funding sources and coordinates with the development team for grants.
• Coordinates or handles maintenance activities; manages tenant apartments and leases; responds to emergencies.
