Job summary

The Shamblin lab at the University of Georgia in Athens seeks student laboratory assistants for wildlife and fisheries sample curation, DNA extractions, and data calling for population genetic analyses.

This role supports graduate students, the lab manager, and the PI with sample tracking and processing of blood, eggshell, feather, skin, fin clips, eDNA filter, and swab samples, and DNA extractions for genotyping and sequencing.

Qualifications

• UGA students pursuing BS degree in biology, genetics, marine science, or wildlife/fisheries preferred.
• Previous laboratory experience is a plus, but not necessary.

Responsibilities

• Sample tracking and processing for DNA extractions.
• Data calling and curation.
• DNA extractions and sample archiving.
• Dish washing and general lab maintenance.
