Job summary

White Oak Conservation in Florida is seeking a Carpenter to support the Maintenance Department by building, maintaining, and installing structures and fixtures across the property.

As an internal candidate, you will read blueprints, follow safety rules, and perform carpentry tasks from cabinets to roofs, upholding high standards of workmanship and safety throughout various projects on the 600-acre site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years’ experience with all phases of residential building and carpentry; or two years of residential building with two years of commercial construction.
• Educational certificates are preferred.
• Certificates of competency in carpentry are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs residential and light commercial construction.
• Reads and interprets blueprints for structural concepts.
• Builds or repairs cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, trim work, decks, walkways, or other wooden fixtures using woodworking machines, hand tools, or power tools.
• Installs foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using materials such as wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites; finishes sheetrock.
• Performs roof repairs and shingle installation.
• Performs interior and exterior painting and staining.
• Performs minor plumbing and electrical work.
• Performs welding and fabrication, as assigned.
• Installs and repairs fencing, as needed.
• Builds scaffolding and sets up ladders for work on tall structures.
