Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a highly experienced contract Project Controls/Field Lead for aData Center environment in Pataskala, OH. You will manage project plans, milestones, and reporting throughout the lifecycle, coordinating with site teams and vendors to ensure on-time delivery and quality.

Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing and leading installations in accordance with design documents and specifications.
  • Data center development and/or construction management experience.
  • Experience with Primavera P6.
  • Experience managing IT or IP network deployment projects in mission-critical environments requiring coordination across multiple disciplines to achieve a common objective.
  • Experience leading deployments of network and structured cabling infrastructure.
  • Experience performing fiber optic testing at scale, including complex troubleshooting.
  • Experience with outside plant (OSP) cabling deployments, including OTDR and OLTS testing.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs, including progressive inspections and final acceptance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Control: Create, maintain, and report on site project and program scopes, schedules, and milestones. Work closely with the site project management team throughout the project lifecycle, from project and program plan creation through project closeout.
  • Lessons Learned: Continuously review ongoing projects for schedule and budget efficiencies, document key data points to assist field coordination, and support best practices and initiatives; coordinate SOPs/SIPs with vendors and standards efforts; facilitate lessons-learned reviews with internal and external partners.
  • Forecasting: Support project controls with budgeting; share current project status with upstream and downstream partners; ensure clear handoffs between teams.
  • Technical Reviews: Establish milestones for equipment procurement and track progress; assist with selection and evaluation of contractors for structured cabling in the data center.
  • Metrics: Report project progress, risks, and key site initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Workflow Management: Work with installation partners to establish milestones; conduct pre-project planning and handoffs; manage design delivery, validation, and change orders.
  • Vendor Field Management: Oversee all connectivity-related construction activities on site; set expectations with the site team; maintain relationships with partners; promote a right-first-time culture.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform site inspections to ensure vendor work meets DEC quality standards; validate installations, test reports, and adherence to codes.
  • Technical Field Lead: Serve as the technical lead for industry standards; lead product evaluations, design reviews, and RFI process.
  • Technical Coordination: Develop solutions for field scope gaps; support design reviews and BOM validation.
  • Communication & Cross-Functional Engagement: Liaise with construction partners; coordinate with logistics; communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Safety: Enforce safety requirements and promote a safety-first culture with EHS practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Control: Create, maintain, and report on site project and program scopes, schedules, and milestones. Work closely with the site project management team throughout the project lifecycle, from project and program plan creation through project closeout.
  • Lessons Learned: Continually review ongoing projects for schedule and budget efficiencies, as well as opportunities to enable cross-functional partners to succeed. Document key data points to assist with project field coordination. Support the development of project management best practices and initiatives, coordinate SOPs/SIPs with vendors, participate in global and regional standards efforts, and facilitate lessons-learned reviews with internal and external cross-functional partners.
  • Forecasting: Support the project controls team with forecasting and budgeting efforts as required. Share current project status with upstream and downstream partners, ensuring clear and complete handoffs between teams.
  • Technical Reviews: Establish milestones for equipment procurement and track and report progress against those milestones. Assist with the selection and evaluation of contractors supporting structured cabling work within the data center.
  • Metrics: Report project progress, risks, and key site initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Workflow Management: Work with installation partners to establish and track project milestones. Conduct pre-project planning and project handoffs, and ensure design delivery and validation. Identify and respond to project risks and high-priority issues quickly and effectively through appropriate action and escalation. Track and manage project change-order requests.
  • Vendor Field Management: Oversee all connectivity-related construction activities and projects on site, including tracking and reporting actual progress against schedule expectations. Set and communicate clear expectations with the site team, build strong relationships with installation partners, foster a safe and collaborative working environment, and promote a “right first time” execution philosophy.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform physical inspections to ensure vendor work meets DEC quality standards throughout the data center lifecycle. Validate physical installations, test reports, build accuracy, material compliance, and adherence to local codes, including conducting constructability reviews across multiple design phases.
  • Technical Field Lead: Serve as the technical lead for industry and Meta standards. Lead product evaluations, design reviews, and installation methodologies in the field, including scope clarification, design interpretation, and installation details. Own and manage the Request for Information (RFI) process.
  • Technical Coordination: Develop solutions for field-related scope gaps and design clashes. Partner with DEC design and engineering teams to support design reviews, bill of materials (BOM) reviews, and as-built drawing validation.
  • Communication & Cross-Functional Engagement: Liaise with construction partners to ensure deliverables are achieved during new builds and retrofit projects. Coordinate with logistics partners, vendors, and suppliers to ensure a smooth end-to-end flow of materials. Work closely with relevant teams to proactively communicate project progress, risks, and key initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Safety: Ensure vendors adhere to safety requirements in accordance with local regulations and DEC safety best practices. Promote a “safety first” culture while collaborating with others in support of shared objectives. Foster an environment of open and transparent communication and demonstrate strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) practices.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 – $80.00/hr.
