Job summary

Old Colony YMCA is seeking a School Age Group Leader for Conley Elementary in Whitman, MA. This role supports before/after school programming with energetic activities, safety, and positive role modeling for children.

Responsibilities include planning activities, coordinating with the Site Coordinator, and maintaining accurate attendance. This position requires 18+ years, a HS diploma, CPR/First Aid, and the ability to lift equipment and work with a team.

Responsibilities

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 18 years of age and have 6 months school age experience.
• Have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
• Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
• Ability to create and sustain a culture of excellence and work and thrive as part of a cohesive team.
• Ability to lift/move heavy equipment and clean when necessary.
• Will sometimes work early morning, late nights and weekends.
• Strong oral communication skills required for occasional public speaking responsibilities.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75lbs on occasion and 40lbs frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
• Ability to thoroughly understand Y-USA's three focus areas: Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility; proven ability to identify and meet the needs of the health seeker

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

• Understand and ensure EEC regulations as well as Old Colony Y policies (Child and Youth Care policy, Child Guidance Policy, Health Care Policy) are always maintained.
• Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the program curriculum in accordance with EEC regulations and Old Colony YMCA'S policies.
• Assist with daily activities, including but not limited to; Y Chat, Homework Help, STEM activities, Arts and Crafts and long-term projects.
• Maintain proper behavior of children at all times with strict adherence to both the YMCA Child Guidance Policy, and the Child Care Policy.
• Understands and maintains QRIS standards
• Act in a public relations capacity when communicating with parents, school personnel and potential clients.
• Act as a positive role model.
• Assist in staffing other schools if needed
• Help maintain attendance records and all necessary reports
• Meet with the School Age Site Coordinator as directed.
• Attend both weekly site staff meetings and monthly school age meetings.
• Establish and maintain working relationships with school or other site-specific personnel.
