This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Conflicts Staff Attorney to join our team in our Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, or San Francisco offices. This position offers the flexibility to be fully remote while working within reasonable commuting distance from the listed offices.

This position is responsible for performing tasks related to the screening of potential client engagements in accordance with the firm’s risk management procedures and policies.

On a Typical Day You Will

• Undertake and analyze conflicts database searches with respect to new matters for prospective and existing clients, to highlight potential conflict issues for attorneys initiating new clients and new matters for existing clients
• Assist intake attorneys in clearing potential conflicts based on analysis of the firm’s conflict system through contact with responsible attorneys
• Assist in identification of conflicts of interest, and in drafting waivers where applicable
• Participate in training sessions on conflict screening and new client/new matter intake processes
• Update training materials on conflict and new business intake issues
• Run special searches as needed (e.g., prior relations of new attorneys, potential mergers)
• Participate in projects involving best practices in new business intake and risk management
• Support administrative tasks and other assigned duties

Join Us If You Have

• Juris Doctor; licensed to practice in one or more U.S. jurisdictions
• Knowledge of conflict of interest rules under the Rules of Professional Conduct; experience in a large law firm is preferred
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to build relationships with attorneys for conflict analysis and approval
• Attention to detail, analysis, and organizational skills
• Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Customer service skills and responsiveness
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Elite Records Management System is a plus

The annual salary in Washington State ranges from $137,000 to $153,000, with adjustments based on experience. In California (Los Angeles and San Francisco), the range is $138,000 to $187,000, depending on location and experience.
