Job summary

Spartronics is seeking a Configuration Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of Configuration Technicians and ensure accurate, reliable configurations behind our aerospace, defense, and medical device products.

The role is hands-on and leadership-focused, combining engineering excellence with manufacturing readiness. You will manage BOMs, component data, and engineering changes while driving continuous improvement across engineering and production teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering, technical, manufacturing, product support, or related experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, team lead, project leadership, or personnel management experience.
  • Experience supporting engineering operations within a manufacturing, EMS, or industrial environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, engineering documentation, manufacturing processes, product lifecycle management, and engineering change management.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, personnel, and operational demands within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience utilizing ERP and PLM systems, engineering software, and CAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint and CAD.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Configuration Technicians, prioritizing work based on manufacturing needs and commitments.
  • Own manufacturing configuration integrity including BOMs, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Resolve component issues, lifecycle, obsolescence, and evaluate alternatives.
  • Drive engineering change orders and ensure compliance with RoHS/REACH standards.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve technical issues.
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers and drive process improvements.

This is a hands-on engineering leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, developing people, and improving the systems and processes that keep manufacturing moving.

You will play a critical role at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customer support. From building and maintaining bills of materials to resolving component issues, managing engineering changes, and addressing component obsolescence, you will help protect the integrity of our manufacturing configurations while improving efficiency and responsiveness. Job Title: Configuration Engineering Supervisor

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Work Location: On-site | North Logan, UT

Lead and Develop the Team
  • Supervise the day-to-day activities of Configuration Technicians and prioritize work based on manufacturing needs, customer commitments, and business objectives.
  • Assign workloads, monitor productivity and utilization, and ensure engineering support is responsive to production requirements.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members through onboarding, technical training, skills development, and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and continuous-improvement culture.
Own Manufacturing Configuration Integrity
  • Ensure component configurations, bills of materials, specifications, and engineering documentation are accurate and effective.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of multi-level BOMs for electrical assemblies and manufacturing materials.
  • Perform component analysis and classification and evaluate components for specific product applications.
  • Review and interpret component datasheets, quality requirements, customer documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Establish standardized component titles and configuration practices.
Solve Technical and Component Challenges
  • Investigate non-compliant components, determine root causes, and develop appropriate dispositions.
  • Evaluate and support secondary processes for electronic components.
  • Identify and resolve component lifecycle issues, including obsolete and end-of-life components.
  • Research component alternatives and work with manufacturers and distributors to resolve technical and supply issues.
  • Support component-level testing, experiments, and technical investigations.
Drive Engineering Change and Compliance
  • Review and authorize engineering change orders related to components and specifications.
  • Support compliance with applicable customer, industry, and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain documentation related to RoHS, REACH, lead-free finishes, counterfeit component avoidance, and tin-whisker mitigation.
  • Help ensure engineering configurations remain aligned with current standards and customer requirements.
Partner Across the Organization
  • Work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and other teams to resolve technical issues and improve production performance.
  • Provide internal and external customer technical support when needed.
  • Support new technology and process improvements that reduce cost, improve quality, and increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Contribute to product lifecycle management, manufacturing readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements

ITAR Citizenship Requirement: Must be U.S. persons within the definition of ITAR, with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance. Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with of Counterfeit Avoidance, Tin Whisker Mitigation, RoHS, and REACH.
  • Works well independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities at the same time.
  • Understanding customer document packages to establish multi-level bills of materials for assemblies of electrical components and manufacturing materials.
  • Knowledge of quality standards/quality notes for electrical components.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
  • Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, contract manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, or operational excellence methodologies.
  • Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), manufacturing readiness, product lifecycle management, or engineering process improvement activities.
  • Experience supporting customer technical reviews, audits, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, or related professional certification.
  • Experience utilizing advanced engineering, analytics, or project management tools.
  • Experience with Silicon Expert and Arena software.

Compensation: This is an Exempt position with an annual salary of $95,000-$130,000 based on experience. Compensation will be based on relevant experience, education, technical expertise, and leadership experience, including experience in manufacturing engineering, electronics manufacturing, component engineering, engineering operations, and related regulated manufacturing environments.
