Job summary

Qualifications

• Must pass a written examination prior to completing the training.
• Must respond to and be at the designated work site within two hours of receiving a call.
• Must possess good communication skills, work efficiently with minimum supervision.

Responsibilities

• Inspect freight cars, perform airbrake tests, replace hoses and gaskets.
• Read and interpret track signals and official timetables.
• Follow GCOR and railroad instructions for safe movement.
• Plan setouts, pickups, and switch services for industries.
• Respond to emergencies and operate fire extinguishers; provide basic first aid.
• Complete required documentation and ensure departure/arrival procedures.
• Be eligible for mandatory promotion to locomotive engineer after 1 year.
