Job summary

BNSF Railway is hiring Conductor Trainees in Forsyth, Montana. The role trains you to manage train operations, ensure safety compliance, and contribute to efficient freight movement using real-time data and proven safety protocols.

Position is full-time (40 hours/week) with on-call requirements, nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong emphasis on safety, reliability, and adaptability in varied weather and terrain, with company-paid training at multiple locations.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• 18 years of age or older by start date.
• Ability to work at designated location and travel as required.
• Ability to work safely in varied weather and environments.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to climb ladders and work on equipment.
• Ability to interpret signals and judge speeds and distances.

Responsibilities

• Communication responsibilities include obtaining, receiving, and acting on information; monitoring and reporting daily work.
• Switching functions involve operating track switches and derails and verifying alignment.
• Train and equipment inspections including inspecting cars per federal regulations and monitoring track conditions.
• Daily work in a safety-sensitive environment with extreme weather and noisy machinery.
• Follow safety policies, wear PPE, and adhere to federal/state regulations.
