BFKP, a New York City boutique law firm focused on real estate, seeks an Associate Attorney – Condo / Co-Op to advise cooperative and condominium boards and manage unit transactions. The role offers drafting of governing documents, reviewing leases, and handling day-to-day compliance in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Ideal candidates have a JD from an accredited school, NY admission, and 4–7 years of transactional real estate experience, with strong drafting and negotiation

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York.
• Approximately 4–7 years of transactional real estate experience.
• Experience drafting and negotiating governing documents and commercial leases.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchase and sale transactions involving cooperative and condominium units and buildings, from contract through closing.
• Draft and review proprietary leases, bylaws, house rules, and assist boards in enforcing documents.
• Prepare AIA contracts and access license agreements, including negotiating access agreements.
• Advise board members and managing agents on day-to-day legal matters and regulatory issues.
• Prepare and amend governing documents and related policies.
• Draft materials for board and shareholder meetings and provide legal guidance.
• Advise on budget and expense matters and dispute resolution as needed.
• Coordinate closings and ensure documentation is accurate and timely.
• Advise clients on local, state, and federal compliance issues.
• Support borrower-side financing and refinancing transactions.
