Job summary

ACV Auctions is seeking a Certified Condition Report Writer to inspect vehicles on receipt, document condition with detailed reports and photographs, and ensure accurate data for in-lane and online sales. You will communicate findings clearly to management and staff, supporting a seamless auction experience while adhering to procedures and safety guidelines.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of car auction industry experience, strong organizational skills, and a sharp eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt.
• Document vehicle condition by completing Vehicle Condition Report (VCR) and taking digital photos.
• Communicate effectively with management and staff to ensure a smooth auction experience.

Who we are looking for

The Certified Condition Report Writer completes vehicle condition report to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems.

What you will need

• Identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt; interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment, noting any damage or repair to frame, paint or other, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
• Document vehicle condition by completing appropriate Vehicle Condition Report (VCR), taking digital pictures and computer data entry in a timely manner, preparing for in lane and online sales.
• Communicate effectively with management and other staff members to facilitate a seamless auction experience and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with auction procedures, policies, and safety guidelines, taking necessary actions to maintain a secure working environment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to locating and moving vehicles, starting and/or jump‑starting vehicles, etc.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

What you will need

• 1 year of car auction industry experience.
• Demonstrated organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with buyers, sellers, and other staff members.
• Attention to detail and ability to accurately verify and record vehicle information.
• Familiarity with auction procedures, terminology, and documentation.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Must be able to work in auction lot setting, including moving for most of the day.
