City of Enid is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator/Construction worker to perform concrete maintenance and road repair across arterial and residential streets. You will operate backhoes, skid steers, and loaders, mold joints, and ensure proper curing of surfaces.
A valid CDL and ability to read blueprints are required. The role involves a typical 8-hour shift, Mon-Fri, with potential nights/weekends during snow or ice events.

LEADERSHIP: Provides co-worker leadership to others through motivation, team building, and provision of feedback.
To ensure the safety and quality of transportation for City of Enid residents through the installation and preventative corrective maintenance of arterial, residential, and commercial streets and roadway.
High school diploma of general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and or/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Class B CDL upon hire.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of highways and roads.
Manual dexterity sufficient to work with the fingers.
Normal vision, with or without corrective lenses.
PDC Level: Heavy Employee lifts/carries 50 lbs. occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times a day); exert push/pull force of 100 lbs. Ability to shovel and push material using tools. Ability to kneel and squat to perform concrete work low to the ground.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Regular – 8 hour shift, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Other – Variable lunch period and breaks in coordination with other personnel.
May be required to work nights and weekends during snow and ice events, 10-12 hours.
Early morning or night time hours could be required for work that would need to be done in high traffic areas, very limited.
Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)
Very loud. Hearing protection required.
Occasional work near moving mechanical parts.
4-6 years’ experience.
Specialized vocational training or additional coursework in related field.
Ability to fill in for foreman on short-term basis.
Ability to fill in for Heavy Equipment Operator on short-term basis.
Valid CPR Certification.
7+ years’ experience.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent in related field.
Ability to fill in for foreman on an extended term basis.
