Job summary

Fort Jackson Reception Complex in Columbia, SC seeks an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on concrete construction projects. You will create schedules, sequence work, supervise crews and ensure compliance with contract documents.

Requirements include OSHA 10 certification and ability to read drawings, with a focus on quality workmanship per codes. You will manage the project schedule and coordinate foundations, formwork, and finishing, while benefiting from health/dental,

Description

Responsibilities:

• Create schedules and determine sequencing of work
• Create and manage concrete frame schedule, hold work crews accountable to their commitments
• Manage all aspects of concrete structures including foundations, elevated formwork cycles, cranes, layout and controls, placing, consolidating and finishing concrete best practices.
• Supervise and develop labor personnel
• Manage the work to ensure that it is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents
• Act as the quality control

Requirements:

• Must be able to manage employees and have strong leadership skills
• Must have thorough knowledge of OSHA's requirements for construction safety and have attended an OSHA 10 hour certification in the last five years
• Must be able to read and decipher construction documents
• Must be able to identify quality workmanship as it relates to building codes, industry standards, and contract documents
• Must be able to produce, maintain, and direct the project schedule
• Understand & implement basic concrete principles such as concrete mix designs, admixtures, curing, cold and hot weather procedures for concrete placing and finishing, formwork systems

• Ability to work with people from different trades, backgrounds, cultures, etc.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications

Qualifications

Experience

• 7 years: Experience in the construction industry
• 5 years: Experience as Superintendent or in a supervisory role
