Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is hiring for a construction laborer in Garyville, LA. The role involves site preparation, concrete mixing and finishing, equipment signaling, and daily housekeeping to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities include reading plans, following safety rules, and assisting with form work and material handling on a busy construction site. The ideal candidate will work under supervision with attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with related experience.
• Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions.

Responsibilities

• Operate jackhammers and drills to break concrete or pavement.
• Position, join, align and seal structural components such as concrete walls and pipes.
• Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers and mix, pour, spread concrete.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery.
• Finish freshly poured concrete using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered finishing tools.
• Tend to pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools and equipment.
• Read and interpret plans, instructions and specifications to determine work activities.
• Maintain site safety and cleanliness according to guidelines.
