Job summary

United Concrete Products in Wallingford, CT is seeking an in-house concrete laboratory Technician to support precast and prestressed products for DOT, marine, port, and infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on testing, mix-design development, and opportunities to grow through Senior Technician and QC Specialist, with training and ACI certification support.

Qualifications

• Experience in concrete testing or lab work preferred.
• Ability to follow ASTM/ACI/DOT procedures.
• Willingness to pursue ACI certifications with company support.

Responsibilities

• Sample and test raw materials for spec compliance.
• Perform fresh concrete testing—slump, air, temperature, unit weight.
• Cast, cure, and compression-test cylinders.
• Assist with mix-design development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Perform QC testing on precast and prestressed products.
• Maintain accurate test records and QC documentation.
• Review test data to spot trends or quality issues and report to QC management.
• Help investigate nonconformances and corrective actions.
• Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; keep a clean, safe lab.
• Participate in R&D of new materials, mix designs, and QC methods.
