Job summary

Intertek-PSI is seeking an Entry Level Construction Material Testing Technician to join our Building & Construction team in Austin, Texas. This role focuses on concrete strength testing and lab procedures, with opportunities to grow in the construction materials testing industry.

You will perform field tests, collect samples, and document results, while maintaining compliance and safety on active projects. The position offers hands-on experience and a path toward certification in testing methods.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum one year of concrete strength testing experience required.
• Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record required.
• Basic math, calculator, and computer skills required.
• Ability to read and understand work plans and testing procedures.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime, off-shift, and occasional overnight hours as required.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain detailed and accurate testing documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform field concrete testing activities on active construction sites to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Conduct fresh concrete testing, observe concrete placement operations, and collect and sample concrete cylinders for lab testing and QA purposes.
• Accurately document test results, field observations, and project data while maintaining complete records.
• Adhere to established testing procedures, quality control standards, and safety requirements.
• Under supervision, communicate testing results and project information with project managers, contractors, clients, and team members; assist with additional testing as needed.
