Job summary

Grand Canyon University’s College of Engineering and Technology is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Concrete Foundations at the Phoenix campus. This part-time, face-to-face role focuses on delivering practical instruction, guiding students through formwork, safety, and concrete finishing, and reinforcing fundamental engineering concepts.

Course: Concrete Foundations

This course provides an introduction to skills in concrete construction. Students learn to form and finish sidewalks, pads, grade beams, and stairs, accurately following layout plans and interpreting blueprints. The focus is on safety and following safety guidelines and practices when stripping and building wall, deck, and stair form systems, and recognizing hazards for effective completion of task hazard analysis (THA) logs. Students complete material calculations, concrete joint sawing, and operate laser grades and screed systems. Students also gain hands‑on experience in rubbing and patching concrete walls, maintaining trowel machines, and vibrating decks, while developing proficiency in complex concrete projects.
