Responsibilities

  • Engage in daily planning and preparation to build crew plans.
  • Prepare detailed phase plans covering labor, materials, equipment, and safety.
  • Monitor phase plan progress and report obstacles to the Project Lead.
  • Draft and communicate the daily plan with crew feedback.
  • Supervise Crew Task Leads and craft workers to meet daily goals.
  • Ensure crews have tools, materials, and manpower.
  • Oversee daily execution to meet quality, production, safety, and schedule goals.
  • Complete daily logs and submit to the Project Lead.
  • Submit accurate time and quantity reports with correct cost code allocation.
  • Assist with incident reporting including FROI and RCA.
  • Identify and address safety hazards within phase plans and activities.
  • Mentor Crew Task Leads and craft to improve their leadership.

Job Description

The Field Lead is responsible for planning and executing assigned phases of work as directed by the Project Lead. This person will provide clear direction to Crew Task Leads and craft workers, ensuring each phase is planned and executed efficiently and safely. Day-to-day, the Field Lead engages in daily planning processes, oversees execution against schedule and quality goals, and plays a hands-on role in mentoring team members. This role is a great fit for someone with strong leadership instincts who enjoys developing people while delivering results in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Engage in the Daily Planning and Preparation (DPP) process to build and communicate crew plans.
  • Prepare detailed phase plans covering labor, materials, equipment, and safety considerations.
  • Monitor phase plan progress and report obstacles or opportunities to the Project Lead.
  • Draft and communicate the daily plan, incorporating crew feedback and confirming understanding.
  • Supervise Crew Task Leads and craft, setting expectations and ensuring alignment to daily goals.
  • Ensure crews have the tools, materials, and manpower needed for each phase of work.
  • Oversee daily execution to meet quality, production, safety, and schedule goals.
  • Complete daily logs summarizing events, weather, and manpower, and submit to the Project Lead.
  • Submit accurate time and quantity reports with correct cost code allocation.
  • Assist with incident reporting, including First Report of Injury (FROI) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Identify and proactively address safety hazards within phase plans and daily activities.
  • Mentor Crew Task Leads and craft to improve their technical and leadership effectiveness.
Required Experience/Skills
  • Prior experience supervising crews on construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of daily planning and phase planning processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality standards in the field.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with crews and project leadership.
  • Experience with time, quantity, and cost code reporting.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience with data center or other mission-critical construction projects.
  • Background in coaching or developing junior field personnel into leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with incident reporting and root cause analysis processes.
Education

High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant field experience may substitute for formal education.
