Job summary

The City of Garland is hiring a Concrete Finisher to set paving forms, finish concrete, and operate multiple pieces of construction equipment. You will help the survey crew maintain alignment and ensure proper drainage with graded surfaces. The role requires physical strength, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently or with a team.

Typical schedule is four days a week, with seasonal variations. Valid Texas Class C driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires 18 months of experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Set grade for paving forms and establish sub-grade.
• Place and finish concrete to correct grade and ensure proper drainage.
• Operate equipment such as front-end loader, skid steer, backhoe, and power tools.
• Inspect worksite for safety, traffic control, and compliance with standards.
• Assist survey crew and maintain alignment for slipform paving teams.
• Prepare surfaces for forms, pour, and finish concrete per specifications.
• Perform pre/post-trip vehicle inspections and keep equipment in good condition.
