SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Foreperson II, this position supervises activities of Utility Workers in the maintenance, repair, and construction of City curbs, gutters, valleys/channels and other City properties. Generally in charge of forming, grading, and finishing concrete with all associated responsibilities and skills. May be required on occasion to perform semi-skilled or manual unskilled work. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as necessary by the department, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Graduation from high school or GED required. One (1) year experience as a Concrete Finisher required. Three (3) years experience in utility/storm drainage construction, or maintenance, or similar type work preferred. Completion of 16 hours training in traffic and barricading procedures during probationary year. Valid Texas Driver’s License required. Must be able to obtain a Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License when scheduled to attend CDL training course during probationary year. Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee must have good working knowledge and good mechanical aptitude of light and medium-large equipment and trucks. Should be familiar with the use of all hand tools, both power and manual, and be capable of applying traffic safety devices and controls to all traffic situations. Frequent use of two-way radio is mandatory. The position requires good physical condition, ability to drive in all types of city traffic. Work long, enduring hours during inclement weather or emergencies. This position requires light to moderate occasional lifting (30-100 lbs.).
