Penhall Company in Greer, SC is seeking a Concrete Cutting Trainee to support experienced operators while gaining hands-on training in core drilling, concrete sawing, cutting, and removal. This entry-level role is designed for individuals looking to build a career in skilled trades, with opportunities for growth and development.

You will learn to operate and maintain equipment, follow safety protocols, and contribute to project success by assisting with site setup and material handling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED.
• Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Previous labor experience in construction, demolition, plumbing, or related industries preferred.
• Familiarity with wall saws, core drills, flat saws, hand saws, ring saws, and/or compressor tools such as jackhammers preferred.
• Experience with construction equipment like bobcats, backhoes, or related is highly desired.
• Solid mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn equipment operation and maintenance.
• Self-motivation, strong work ethic, ability to work in challenging conditions (rain, cold, heat).
• Basic mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. or more and maintain mobility.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Teamwork and collaboration abilities to support project objectives.
• Professional and courteous attitude with coworkers, supervisors and the public.
• Versatility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
• Reliable and punctual attendance.
• Must pass post-offer pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background check and motor vehicle records check.

Responsibilities

• Assist with cutting, sawing, lifting, and core drilling of concrete under supervision.
• Operate and maintain company equipment, including vehicles and tools such as: diamond blades, flat saws, core drills, wall saws, jackhammers, etc.
• Ensure regular inspection, basic maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of all company equipment.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
• Support the setup and breakdown of job sites, ensuring proper equipment organization and readiness.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure project success.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
