Job summary

Sequoia Services is seeking a Concrete Carpenter/Finisher to join our field team. The role involves following finish grades during slab pours, reading plans, tying rebar, installing embeds and anchors, and setting up formwork. You will place and finish concrete slabs, cure and cut as required, and perform repairs as needed.

On-site work in varied outdoor conditions with required PPE. The team emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficient operation to deliver quality flatwork in West Virginia

Qualifications

• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Must be able to follow established finish grade during slab pours.
• Ability to tie rebar per plans is preferred.
• Install embeds and anchor bolts per plans.
• Set string lines for concrete formwork.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and erect forms.
• Perform concrete placement and finishing including curing and cutting.
• Dismantle, clean, and store forms after use.

Responsibilities

• Follow finish grade during slab pouring and finishing.
• Read and interpret plans and measurements.
• Set up and secure formwork, embeds, and anchor bolts.
• Construct and align forms with string lines; ensure stability and level.
• Place, finish, cure, and cut concrete slabs as required.
• Patch and repair concrete surfaces as needed; patch-and-point experience is a plus.

Concrete Carpenter/Finisher

Job Requirements

• Must be able to follow established finish grade during the pouring of slabs.
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
• Ability to tie rebar in accordance with plans.
• Install embeds and anchor bolts in accordance with plans.
• Set string lines for concrete formwork.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and erect prefabricated wood and steel forms.
• Set and secure forms at the correct location and elevation, ensuring they are stable, level, and properly aligned.
• Perform concrete placement and finishing, including placing, finishing, curing, and cutting concrete slabs.
• Proficient in the use of straightedges, bull floats, float blades, combo blades, hand tools, sledgehammers, hand saws, power drills, saws, lasers, vibrators, walk-behind trowels, and riding trowels. Must understand when and how to properly use this equipment throughout the concrete placement and finishing process.
• Perform patching and repair of concrete, including filling voids. Patch-and-point experience preferred.
• Dismantle, clean, store, or dispose of forms after use.

Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to climb, stand, sit, walk, reach around, bend, crawl, squat and kneel for prolong periods of time.
The ability to lift/push/pull up to and not limited to 100 lbs.

Working Conditions

Work occurs on-site and will be mainly outdoors. Must be comfortable working in a changing environment that may expose you to hot or cold weather, loud noises, dust, and rain.

Work may occur at heights and require the use of a ladder/manlift/scaffold/ or other mechanical platforms to access the working area.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times (safety vest, hard hat, eye protection, gloves, sleeves as needed, face shields, and appropriate work footwear are required.
